leaving

Today I had to leave for home, it was a last minute decision I could have stayed in Germany and found a job but my German wasn't outstanding as of yet and I just felt like I needed to go home. So I spent the morning soaking every last bit of Germany in and saying goodbye to Lea and her family/friends was so hard. Juilian, Lea and Nicolas all took me to the airport in which I sat on my suitcase and refused to move for a while. Being in Germany and not knowing the language above the basics taught me so much, as long as your willing to learn and take in everything you see, hear and learn it will all come to you. I learn't to love, live, be independent and enjoy again. It was so refreshing and just what I needed for three weeks I had very little to do with my phone apart from contacting my family. I learnt that I/we all spend to much time on our phone trying to make sure we don't miss anything and document everything that we miss alot of what is happening around us.
I feel in love with Germany, and I know that this country will always hold something for me. The future is filled with hope and the unknown.
Thank you Germany.

Berlin, day two.

Day two in Berlin, so today Lea and I had a little sleep in and then she wanted to show me the markets so we jumped on the tram and headed to this sweet little park. As we arrived it was swarmed with people, it was a very cultural vintage market with a band playing outside, homemade cute food stools and plenty of little stands to buy everything you could ever think of. We found some little gems, handmade bags, headbands, number plates etc things that will last a lifetime. Before we headed into the rest of the markets we needed to eat and did we eat amazingly YES, I had a veggie panni with a hot coffee and Lea got some amazing Turkish breakfast. We spent a good few hours in this place as we just got carried away, while Tom stayed at the flat to pack our things in the car. Then Lea and I met up with Tom and a few of his friends for lunch in this cheap resturant but served the yummiest food and a lot of it. On our way home Lea and Tom made a detour in which I wasn't aloud to know about, appenetly it was just a few miles not to far from our route, however Tom got to excited with the music and missed the turning and then the next turning to get us back on route. Eventually we got there and it was so beautiful it was a huge historic park with magical castles I was taken back, It was so lovely such an awesome stop. After a hour there we hit the road again for the long trip home, it was election day to in Germany so every once in a while we had to listen to the radio and call their mothers to get an update. The election is a really big deal even in the younger generations which is amazing.
I loved every second of Berlin, I feel in love with the free spirit of the city being able to drink in parks, walk around all day, drinking, eating and the people.
Thank you Berlin.

Berlin

So this weekend Lea, Tom and I took a 6 hour road trip to Berlin! The only bad thing about road trips in Germany you have to pay for to go to the toilet at every gas station on the freeway. We had the funnest ride Tom had made a perfect playlist of all the old school music, a six pack of diet coke and musical instruments. LOVED IT. By the time we got to Berlin it was really late so we pulled up at Tom's friend flat unpacked the car, grabbed some food and headed to bed. We woke up refreshed and ready to go the next day. So Lea thought it would be best to save a lot of time we got on a tourist but in which in London I would NEVER get on, but I was never going to see anyone again and it was fast. In two hours we saw all of the iconic places in East and West Germany, so then Lea began to show me all of the places she had grown to love as she was growing up in Berlin. We went to a really cool bar/cafe where we got beer & cake and just sat for hours people watching. After that we hopped onto a tram and headed to a reggae warehouse were they had bands playing drums and a bar on the river bank we sat there for hours to just listening and watching the boats pass and the band play. Then we jumped onto the tram again visited the Berlin Wall which was so inspirational because it had an exhibition which showed picture placed on the wall of all of the walls that exist today still dividing cities and countries. On the other side artist from all around the world paintings about the wall. It was a perfect way to see Berlin for the last part of our evening as it got later into the night we went into a shop and brought some street beers and they took me to this warehouse/industral place which had been converted into its own little town with skate parks, bars and music venues where you could take your own drinks and just chill for free. The perfect way to end the day in Berlin.

My surprise leaving party.

I have fallen in love with the friends I have made in Germany, they have opened their hearts, homes and love to me and I am so grateful. They have showed me the greatest parts and culture of their country. They are the most coolest and true people I have met, they didn't have to take me to the fanciest place we just hung out at the woods, houses, parks, drank, smoked and listened to the sweetest music. So Lea had told me we were just going to hang out like normal with everyone and when I got there everyone was there for me and to throw a party to say goodbye. Of course we had a lot to drink, alot to smoke and YET again I was talked into playing another German drinking game. They brought me a bottle of Champagne and a bottle of wine in which I drank all of due to the game apart from maybe 3 glasses, and of course their plan was to get me drunk. I had such an awesome night, I have learnt so much from these guys and had the time of my life, I have so much love for them. They are such amazing people.

Wine Festival

So Lea, Nicolas and a few of our friends took a road trip to a town in south Germany, where each year they hold a wine festival. It was a four hour car trip, I took with Sedro's mom, her friend and Nicolas in which was awesome I got to see a lot of Germany and the beauty of the country. It was a great weekend, we drank alot of wine continually throughout the day, I met so many great people and learnt a lot about wine. Sedro works at a vine yard so we got a personal tour and a personal wine tasting experience; even better we got full glasses of wine and didn't have to spit it back out so after 4 glasses out of 12 we were all pretty drunk. Then we got to go back to the festival and drink more wine from his stand. I had the best weekend we all slept in tents outside we had a bbq everyday even in the rain. It was such a beautiful weekend. I have fallen in love with the wine and the company I was with.

irish bar

Last night Lea, Tom, Ina, Dom and I all went to a local Irish bar, which happened to have a real Irish band playing that night. We started off the night with just a few drinks which turned into ice cream, cheese burgers, and a lot of Jack Daniels. I hadn't been drinking as much has Lea had the past few days so it was my turn to be carried home. The Irish band were so good they played all the good old songs along with whatever people had requested, of course I asked for my dad and I favorite 'Fairytale of New York' which made me cry. However I was in the best company by the end of the night the beautiful irish barman had remember by order and when I waved at him he gave me a thumbs up and I knew my drink was coming. After at least 5 hours none of us were ready to go home so we went to this club, I had no idea what was going on and they just said 'she doesn't understand she is english' and they just let me through. The club was packed and they were playing the best guilty pleasure songs that you would never hear in a club anywhere else. I got hit in the head with a beer case and danced as if I were Beyonce. We all had a intresting evening, once we got home I slept like a baby and was woken up by a very loud thunder storm. Lea knows me to well and text me asking if I was ok and that I could go up to sleep with her, so I did and we closed the blinds and from her bed is the wall covers the window so I couldn't see the lighting. So all was well.
